Question on 1669:

Was looking at the 1669 water pump and have read reviews. I’ve seen where people have said the backing plates has come off. Just wondering if the issue has been fixed before I placed an order for one

Answer

Alas, the internet is forever so a posting like this will live on causing confusion forevermore.

Our initial design was patterned from the OE and used a formed metal insert plug.  In the first year, we did see a few plugs push out.  We suspect that the localized pressure increase at the impeller's eye may have actually pushed the plug out at extreme rpms; a testament to the impeller's performance.

We redesigned the plug to be a press fit machined billet insert.  We also added 600 degree locktite sealer just to be sure.  Since them we have not had an incidence of a back plate coming off.
