    Anyone with a big block Mopar knows they can run hot so Flowkooler designed a high flow water pump with a CNC machined billet impeller with 16 vanes, integrated shrouding and a reduced casting-to-impeller vane clearance.  It achieves greater flow rates, higher head pressure and a more efficient flow. The impeller color is due to Type II Class II military grade surface coating which protects against corrosive fluids. 

    FlowKooler introduced the first hi flow pumps and continues to improve impeller design. Why is increased flow so important to cooling a hot HEMI engine? Because it has been proven time and time again that reducing the cycle time between the heat source and the heat sink creates more opportunities to shed heat and drop engine temperatures.

Temperature range -65ºF to 500ºF (-54°C to 260°C) intermittent; resists auto and shop fluids and vibration.

    Usage suggestions:

    Surfaces should be clean and dry. Apply an even, continuous 1/8" bead of silicone to one surface, surrounding all bolt holes. Remove excess at once with knife. Assemble parts immediately. Do not squeeze out silicone by over tightening bolts. Silicone fully cures in 24 hours. Replace cap after use. Clean hands with dry cloth. Clean tools with non-flammable cleaning fluid.

    Note: Not recommended for use on head gaskets or parts in contact with gasoline.

    Flowkooler High Flow pump 1750 for the Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee has a CNC machined billet impeller designed with an increased vane count and a reduced impeller clearance to achieve greater flow rates, higher block pressure. A Type II Class II military grade anodize surface coating protects against corrosive fluids. 

    This fan hub has bolts that are 5/16-18.  MOPAR lists two sizes in the parts manual .312-18 and .312-24x1.250

    We developed this hi flow pump because Jeeps tend to overheat in stop and go traffic and on the trail. Tight engine space and limited airflow plague the cooling system but it has been proven time and time again that reducing the cycle time between the heat source and the heat sink drops engine temperatures for slow speed rock crawling and stop and go traffic.

    Reducing the gap between the backing plate and the impeller

    Way back when the internet was young a George Kujanski made a statement on a forum about his experience in reducing clearance between impeller vane and backing plate.  Ever since our phones ring with questions about the clearance.  George was correct; when you reduce the clearance in a centrifugal pump you will increase the pressure differential and, concomitantly. increase the flow.  We machine taller impeller vanes into our pumps for this very purpose.  However as a manufacturer, we cannot machine each pump for the myriad of aftermarket plates and/or distorted, warped or corroded OE plates,  Furthermore, we cannot ensure that the person modifying has any experience in forming metal.  For this reason we will not make a recommendation beyond; "as close as you can get without touching."

    George pressed his plate to a .100" clearance and reported anecdotally, "a drastic change in my engine temps with no other changes".  As a frame of reference, this is roughly the thickness of three sheets of paper.  If you elect to close the impeller-to-plate gap you have George's blessing. 

    N.B.  Clearances that results in an impeller vane to backing plate interference will cause friction and failure and so we (unlike George) cannot recommend a specific clearance.  Owner modifications to the Pontiac part design are performed at the owner's discretion and FAILURE TO MAINTAIN ADEQUATE CLEARANCE WILL VOID ALL WARRANTY.

    *Note: Do not buy this pump for the 1969 400 blocks with casting #9796351.  The 1969 400 pump measures 4" and the correct pump is 1647

    Water Pump Divider Plate 1969 1/2 to 1977

    Reducing the gap between the backing plate and the impeller

    Pontiac owners have reported that (1) heat cycling may result in a distortion the backing plate and (2) coolant degradation may corrode the backing plate necessitating replacement.  Some aftermarket plates may have a deeper dome and incremental cooling gains may be experienced by reducing the backing plate-to-impeller vane clearance. In closing the impeller-to-plate gap pressure is built, efficiency is achieved and more coolant will route to the thermostat and radiator which initiates the engine cooling process.  Please note that inadequate clearance that results in an impeller vane to backing plate interference will cause friction.  Owner modifications to the Pontiac part design are performed at the owner's discretion and FAILURE TO MAINTAIN ADEQUATE CLEARANCE WILL VOID WARRANTY.
